JAMAA'TU AHLI LLAHI MILLWALL LONDON

About Us

Jamaa’tu Ahli Llahi (The Society of the People of Allah) with the acronym JAMAHLIY. This is a spiritual movement under the guardianship of Chief Imam Abdullah ‘Gbade Akinbode (RTA). His long time vision of providing a missionary driven platform for the religious fellowship of Muslims devoid of missionary/management bickering and dichotomy associated with older Islamic organisations in Nigeria and to found fulfilment with its establishment in May 2017. His desire to prioritise the education of Muslims and their welfare over and above unbridled religious activism particularly in a Shari’ ah non-compliant (Plural) society like ours also occasioned the coming on board of this organisation. The Jamaa’tu Ahli Llahi, initially resembled an old Islamic welfare organisation. In the early 1930s, its activities included Islamic scholars engaging in, building and repairing mosques and establishing a number of Qur'an schools (whose role in teaching children to read and write was important where majority of the population was illiterate), setting up symposium, and organising the collection and distribution of Zakat (the Islamic alms tax).

His desire to prioritise the education of Muslims and their welfare over and above unbridled religious activism particularly in a Shari’ah non-compliant (Plural) society like ours also occasioned the coming on board of this organisation.

However, Jamaa’tu Ahli Llahi, vision of a new sort of organisation, capable of renewing broken links between tradition and modernity, enabled the organisation and Islamic scholars to gain a degree of popularity and influence that no organisation enjoyed. The Chief Imam Abdullah ‘Gbade Akinbode, observed that, in the midst of a flourishing Nigeria society and a cultural environment marked by innovations in literature, science and education, religious education had been left behind: the ideas of Islamic religious scholars reformers were not made accessible to the general public, and there was no serious effort to make the history and teachings of Islam comprehensible to the young. He was determined to fill this gap by training a cadre of young, highly motivated Islamic preachers equipped with modern teaching methods, independent from the government and the religious establishment, and supported by an effective use of the new mass media. In May 2017, ten young and vibrant Islamic scholars (Imam’s) joined Jamaa’tu Ahli Llahi in the UK on the need for an Islamic renewal. "Imams and Muslims have no status and no dignity in the UK," they said. "They are no more than mere hirelings belonging to the foreigners.... We are unable to perceive the road to action as you perceive it...." They therefore asked Imam Abudulahi Mubarak Basunu, to become the leader; he accepted, founding the Jamaa’tu Ahli Llahi Millwall London UK Chief Imam Abdullah ‘Gbade Akinbode and his followers began by starting Sunday asalatu.

In its first few years, the Society was focused on Islamic education, with an emphasis on teaching members how to implement an ethos of solidarity and altruism in their daily lives, rather than on theoretical issues. The Charity Commission was greatly impressed, particularly by the eloquent speeches of the group of Imams and members of the Jamaa’tu Ahli Llahi Millwall London. Imam Abdulahi Basunu Mubarak the spiritual head was an Islamic scholar and graduate of prestigious university in Cairo, and the appointment of other Imams leading positions became a hallmark of the Jamaa’tu Ahli Llahi Millwall London UK. The Society's major task is a project of getting own property but now move into a temporary mosque in Ilderton Road, near Millwall football ground in 2017, for which it managed to save large amount of money while carefully maintaining its independence from potentially self-interested donors. In the same year, the Society began to receive favourable attention from the application to join the charity commission, and other branch was founded. After the organisation inauguration, Imam Abudulahi Mubarak Basunu, with the help of the BOT, and the association Governing Council transformed the organisation and other branches were inaugurated both in Barking and Nottingham, and the organisation's headquarters remain the Jamaa’tu Ahli Llahi Millwall London UK. In addition to handling the administration of the Society, Imam Abdulahi Mubarak Basunu, gave lectures on the Qur'an for "the ordinary members in the branch and around the headquarters who were 'without learning and without the will for it'" Islam is equal for all people and prefers nobody to others on the grounds of differences in blood or race, forefathers or descent, poverty or wealth. According to Islam everyone is equal... However, in deeds and natural gifts, then the answer is yes. The learned is above the ignorant... Thus, we see that Islam does not approve of the class system.
